Good morning Buffalo. Happy Tuesday. Big night ahead so let's get into it.

TAGE THOMPSON GETS GOLD MEDAL HOMECOMING BEFORE VEGAS GAME

Tonight is going to be special at KeyBank Center. The Sabres are hosting a pregame ceremony honoring Tage Thompson’s Olympic gold medal before they face Vegas. Thompson helped Team USA capture its first Olympic gold in men’s hockey since the Miracle on Ice, beating Canada 2 to 1 in overtime in Milan. He finished with three goals and four points across six Olympic games and was a major part of that run.

Here is where it gets interesting. Thompson says he wants his Team USA teammates Jack Eichel and Noah Hanifin, now with Vegas, included in the ceremony. Yes, that Jack Eichel. Thompson is asking Buffalo to press pause on the grudge for one night and celebrate what they accomplished for the country together. Every fan in attendance gets a gold medal rally towel courtesy of KeyBank and there will be special Team USA merchandise available at the Sabres Store. Puck drops at 7 PM.

SABRES ROLLING WITH THREE STRAIGHT WINS

Buffalo has come out of the Olympic break on fire. They beat New Jersey 2 to 1, Florida 3 to 2, and then torched Tampa Bay 6 to 2 on Saturday. The Sabres are now 35-19-6, sitting second in the Atlantic Division. Playoff hockey in Buffalo is starting to feel very real. A win tonight against Vegas would keep the momentum rolling heading into a tough stretch this week.

BEANE AND BRADY GO WIDE RECEIVER SHOPPING AT NFL COMBINE

The NFL Combine wrapped up in Indianapolis and Bills GM Brandon Beane and new head coach Joe Brady spent the week meeting with wide receivers. Buffalo holds the 26th pick on April 23 and adding weapons for Josh Allen is clearly a priority.

Washington wideout Denzel Boston is the name most frequently mocked to Buffalo at 26. He is 6 foot 4, 210 pounds, with reliable hands and the ability to line up outside or in the slot. The question is whether he can create enough separation at the next level.

Texas A and M’s KC Concepcion has the local connection. Born in Rochester, with family ties to East High and UB, he grew up a Bills fan and said playing for Josh Allen would be a dream. He is 5 foot 11, explosive after the catch, but there are some drop concerns.

Arizona State’s Jordyn Tyson brings size and speed at 6 foot 2, 200 pounds. He told reporters meeting Joe Brady was really cool, but he may require a trade up if Buffalo wants him. Indiana’s Omar Cooper Jr. is another option, a physical slot receiver who posted 13 touchdowns in 2025.

JOSH ALLEN NAMED NFL’S MOST LOVED PLAYER

A new fan sentiment study gave Josh Allen a perfect 10.0 love score, ranking him number one in the entire league. Bills Mafia already knew. Now the rest of the country is catching up.

LAWMAKERS FAST TRACK IMMIGRANT PROTECTION BILLS AFTER REFUGEE DEATH

The death of Nurul Amin Shah Alam is driving legislative action in Albany. State lawmakers announced they are fast tracking a package of immigrant protection bills in direct response to what happened. Shah Alam was a 56 year old Rohingya refugee who was nearly blind, spoke almost no English, and had legal refugee status. After being released from the Erie County Holding Center, Border Patrol agents dropped him at a closed coffee shop. He was later found dead near KeyBank Center. The community rallied at Niagara Square and Mayor Sean Ryan called it bad policing and bad human beings. The case continues to spark outrage and calls for accountability.

BUFFALO PD BOOSTING PATROLS NEAR HOUSES OF WORSHIP

Buffalo Police announced increased patrols near churches, mosques, synagogues, and temples across all denominations. The move is in response to recent military actions in the Middle East. Officials say there are no specific threats, but this is a proactive step to ensure community safety.

PARKING AUTHORITY HOLDS FIRST EVER MEETING

The Buffalo Parking Authority meets today at 1 PM at City Hall. This stems from last year’s plan to sell four city owned parking garages to generate 40 to 50 million dollars to help close the budget deficit. Today’s agenda includes electing officers and adopting bylaws. If you park downtown, this is something to watch closely.
