Good morning, Buffalo.
Here's what you need to know heading into your Friday.
🔴 Refugee Found Dead After Border Patrol Left Him at a Closed Tim Hortons
This story is shaking the entire city. Nurul Amin Shah Alam, a 56 year old Rohingya refugee from Burma who was nearly blind and spoke no English, was found dead on Perry Street Tuesday night. He had been missing since February 19th when Border Patrol agents picked him up from the Erie County Holding Center after he posted bail. Instead of bringing him home or notifying his family, agents dropped him off at a Tim Hortons on the other side of town that had already closed for the night. He was five miles from home with no way to get there. His family spent days searching for him. Mayor Sean Ryan is placing the blame directly on Border Patrol and Congressman Tim Kennedy has formally requested a full investigation from New York Attorney General Letitia James. Border Patrol claims Shah Alam showed no signs of distress and chose to be dropped at the coffee shop. His cause of death has not been released. This is a developing story and we will keep you updated.
